Coming Soon! The Rose City Community Garden will address one of the community's most pressing needs: access to healthy, affordable, nutritious foods. This city-funded initiative will tackle food insecurity and work to beautify Rose City.
The program will be dedicated to making local food accessible and educating the public on gardening practices by increasing the number of community gardens in our neighborhoods. A community garden
will be defined as any piece of land gardened collectively by a group of people, which can include non-profits, community centers, faith-based organizations, and schools.
The Rose City community garden program will supply gardens, including the "Petal and Produce Paradise," with free soil, mulch, compost, seeds, plants, educational opportunities, and work-day events. It will also highlight accomplishments on social media and donates excess garden produce to local food banks.
Every year, the community program will allocate funds specifically for the creation and enhancement of community gardens and urban farms within our city. This initiative will thrive with the support of volunteers, non-profit organizations, and the city of North Little Rock. We will invite both new and established gardens, including our own "Petals and Produce Paradise," to apply for our seasonal funding grants. Special priority will be given to gardens that commit to donating surplus produce, growing crops year round, and hosting educational workshops.
Important Dates:
* Application deadlines for summer: June 15, 2025
* Application deadlines for winter: December 15, 2025
